Carlos is Licensed Clinical Mental health counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in the state of North Carolina. With over 10 years of experience in the mental health and addiction field, Carlos has been trained in a variety of treatment modalities to assist individuals and their families. Carlos earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Walden University in Minnesota and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, San German campus. Carlos treat mental health issues including depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, grief/loss, family issues, addiction and substance abuse issues among others. Carlos has been trained in a variety of family therapy modalities, including Family Systems Therapy, Family Centered Therapy, Structural Family Therapy and Eco-systemic Structural Family Therapy. Carlos implements components of these approaches to assist individuals and families who are experiencing severe emotional disturbances. Carlos have also spent many years working with troubled youth and their families, assisting them reducing risk of out of home placement by providing intensive outpatient services.
Carlos is passionate about meeting people where they are and validating individuals’ emotional experiences as they experience them. Carlos focuses on assisting individuals increasing awareness of their strengths and how to use them to improve overall functioning. Carlos assists individuals increasing resiliency and coping skills to overcome challenges/barriers interfering with their quality of life. As your provider, Carlos will provide the emotional support and understanding needed in a non-judgmental environment to assist you using your strengths/skills to manage distress and learn additional to skills to deal with future situations.
Carlos approaches addiction and substance abuse related issues with warmth and acceptance in a non-judgmental environment that contributes to facilitating change. Carlos assist the client, family and love ones of individuals in recovery by understanding how each individual is impacted, how their lives are transformed by addiction and how important each individual's role is in the recovery effort. Carlos work with individuals struggling with addiction and their families regaining connections and recruiting additional natural/professional supports to create the necessary conditions to promote recovery. Carlos have worked with many individuals who are receiving medication assisted treatment (e.g. suboxone/methadone) and individuals who are on waiting list for liver/kidney transplants.
As a bilingual provider, Carlos is also able to provide services to the Spanish speaking population. Carlos accepts self pay, Cigna and BCBS as an "in-network" provider.

Kristen is a board approved supervisor for the license professional counselor board (LPC). Kristen has over 15 years of experience in the mental health and counseling field. Kristen has successfully treated hundreds of diverse clients. She earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from California State University at Fullerton and a bachelor degree in psychology from San Diego State University.
Kristen provides individual counseling to older adolescents and adults. Kristen no longer offers couples/family counseling. Kristen uses Cognitive-Behavioral, Family Systems and Integrative therapeutic approaches when working with her clients.
Kristen specializes in treating women's issues and life transitions. Treatment areas include anxiety, depression, domestic violence, behavioral problems, family issues, divorce/separation, grief/loss, and PTSD/trauma exposure. As your therapist, Kristen will work collaboratively with you or your loved one to ensure the development of tools necessary to promote healthy change. Kristen will create an accepting atmosphere which promotes a safe, therapeutic relationship for you to express yourself.
Kristen has a passion for working with the LGBTQ community. Kristen enjoys helping those who experience chronic pain/illness.
In addition to private practice, Kristen has extensive experience in working with adjudicated and at-risk youth in residential care, group homes, and agency settings. Kristen has worked with severe mental health issues in a psychiatric hospital diversion program. She is a former Clinical Director of a large, CABHA state agency.
Kristen currently accepts private pay, BCBS, United, and Cigna, as an in-network provider.
